A Brief Synopsis of 2012

So the new year is nearly upon us and, as this year closes, we make way for a new milestone and new adventures to be had. Hello 2013! I just wanted to give a quick review of 2012, what it meant for me and highlights of this year from my home country.

To start off with, I began this year right up until June working and trying to save money for University and my trip abroad. I encountered magnificent up's and devastating low's in my love life, to which I have now found the most spectacular, special man. This was followed by a whirlwind last six months where I went backpacking around South-East Asia and then embarked on the next stage of my life at University studying a subject I love and enjoy.

The UK experienced great highs this year with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee which spanned from February with a Royal tour until June where we in Britain witnessed a spectacular pageant on the Thames. Next we hit the headlines again by hosting the Olympics (unfortunately I missed this. I was a Brit abroad!) which brought a sense of patriarch back to the country and brought people together. Personally I think this is just what the UK needed. To round off our year we were all delighted by the news of Kate and Wills pregnancy. In the film world we were struck with such visually stunning and generally amazing films such as: The Avengers, Skyfall, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Life of Pi, The Hunger Games, Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part Two, Women in Black, The Best Most Exotic Marigold Hotel and The Dark Knight Rises. As well as the usual pop music our charts are littered with weekly, this year we also had the delights of "Gangnam style" which became a YouTube phenomena almost overnight before finding its way into many music charts and clubs, particular on a student night...

Overall, this year has been jam-packed with defining moments. I hope you all had a good year and look back on it with fond memories and that 2013 brings you happiness! All the best, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
